First of all i want to congratulate you on the MovingMario, i never thought of the moving backrgound as a concept, i used to be obsessed with it when i was little and this brought back a lot of memories.
I to had the idea of making a Kaleidoscope with Processing once but never got around to actually do it, could you share the sketch? I would really like to take a look at that.
